Handwashing frequently with the use of handwash/soap and water is the best way to protect yourself from not only normal germs but also from other infections that cause conjunctivitis.
Sometimes, germs can easily transfer from fingertips to the eyes. Refrain from touching your eyes with unwashed hands to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria that can cause infections like conjunctivitis.
One should always consult an eye doctor right at the start of signs like redness, excretion, watering, and pain. Consulting an eye specialist for a diagnosis and treatment will help reduce the infection.
Conjunctivitis is one of the illnesses that can be easily spread through shared objects. Avoid sharing towels, clothing, pillows, or bedding with others.
When someone in the family has conjunctivitis, ensure each person uses their own bottle of eye drop. This helps in preventing cross-contamination and reduces the risk of spreading the infection among family members.
Last but not the least, follow your doctor’s prescribed treatment plan, including the use of lubricating eye drops and help your eyes heal.
