Ahead of an official debut at next month's New York International Auto Show, Acura has released a single image of its 2009 TSX (left), which is set to supplant the current car (above) this spring. Despite its edgy new look, the big news here will sit behind the grille. As in the current car, expect the standard TSX to employ a high-strung, normally aspirated four-cylinder engine (probably producing about 230 horsepower), driving the front wheels through a manual and manu-matic gearboxes. A later Type-S variant likely will employ the 2.3-liter turbocharged four from the RDX sport-utility vehicle, certainly tuned well beyond the current 240 horsepower. And down the road, look for the TSX to debut Honda's 2.2-liter i-DTEC clean diesel engine.
