Description

Here is a group of screenshots of two Super Mutants, one of them name Marcus and a Nightkin name Keene.

Note: Marcus is voice by Michael Dorn, best known for the role of Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also voiced Frank Horrigan, the final boss of Fallout 2.

These Super Mutants and Nightkin were created on purpose by the being called the Master, the main villain of Fallout 1. Unlike the Super Mutants in the Capital Wasteland, the Commonwealth, and Appalachia, some of them remember who they were when they were human. And some of them how a problem moving their lips, so they have these straps attach to them. Marcus is the only Super Mutant in Fallout New Vegas.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Nightkin were an elite warrior caste in the Master's Super Mutant army and the apex of his version of Super Mutants. When the Master's Super Mutant army was defeated in 2162, many began wandering the Wasteland or banded together into groups of varying sizes and with varying ends. In 2281, many are desperately searching for more Stealth Boys.

While in the Master's Army, they had access to superior weapons and armor, including the use of Stealth Boys. Long time use of these devices led to a permanent alteration of their skin. Instead of the usual dull green, their skin is pale blue in color.

The Nightkin often use their equipped Stealth Boys to sneak-attack those who cross their path, remaining invisible until they come out and fight, sometimes even remaining invisible then. However, long time use of Stealth Boys has damaged their sanity, with them becoming incredibly aggressive, paranoid, and in some cases severely delusional.

As Marcus explains, they "hate to be seen." The cause of their paranoia is schizophrenia developed from constant use of the Stealth Boys, because of this they can become angered when stared at for a long period of time.

After the Master's was defested by the Vault Dweller, Marcus wandered aimlessly, looking for fellow Super Mutants. In the year 2185, at high noon, he encountered a Brotherhood of Steel Paladin in power armor named Jacob, who had pledged himself to the extermination of all mutants. They fought for days with guns and fists, but eventually gave up, each unable to get an advantage over the other. Eventually, they realized the pointlessness of their fight, and broke down in joined laughter, beginning a strong friendship between them.

The two started traveling together, arguing over the Unity and Brotherhood doctrine and whether or not the Master could truly neurolink his biology into the Cathedral computer network. As they wandered through the wastes, they attracted a following of other refugees from the war, who believed that Marcus's strength and Jacob's power armor gave them the closest thing available to safety. In Fall of the same year, Marcus and Jacob, along with the trail of Ghouls, humans, and Super Mutants, founded the community of Broken Hills and exploit the Uranium Mine there. Later became a Companion to the Vault Dweller's grandchild, the Chosen One in 2241 during Fallout 2.

After the Uranium in the mine dried-up, Marcus, inspired by the example set by the Chosen One, started wandering east, across the great mountains, in search of other Super Mutants. He never found out what happened to his tribal friend from Arroyo, but he had a feeling that he did good in the end.

Marcus eventually reached the Mojave Wasteland, where he founded a community for Super Mutants atop Black Mountain. This fell apart when Tabitha, an insane Nightkin, rallied the less intelligent Enclave-created mutants against Marcus and forced him and his supporters out of the area. By 2281, Marcus had found Mount Charleston, where he founded yet another safe haven for Super Mutants, naming it Jacobstown in honor of his old friend.

At Jacobstown, Marcus helps and protects schizophrenic Nightkin, and hopes to find a cure with the help of scientist Doctor Henry. Marcus will also greet the Courier and warn them about the Nightkin within Jacobstown when the Courier enters Jacobstown for the first time. (I learned this from a Fallout website.)
