Toots and The Maytals’ song featured on Netflix movie soundtrack
A 1973 Reggae cover from Toots & The Maytals of American singer John Denver’s hit, Take Me Home, Country Roads has been listed on the official soundtrack for Netflix’s latest movie, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The mystery film, which was first released in September, became available for streaming over the Holiday weekend. The movie stars James Bond’s Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc.
Toots & The Maytals’ interpretation of Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads, which appears on their 1973 album In the Dark, credits Island Records’ Chris Blackwell, as one of the producers.
The song is in good company on the movie soundtrack as it features alongside songs from music legends, The Beatles, The Bee Gees, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the late David Bowie.
This is not the first time that the reggae remake has been featured in a film. Take Me Home, Country Roads was also featured in an episode of Outer Banks in 2021.
Toots and The Maytals, a two-time Grammy-winning band, are also no strangers to movie soundtrack listings as their mega-hit single 54-46 also featured in episodes of The Sara Cox Show in 2019 and Narcos: Mexico in 2018.
